Robert Martin Harvey (1924–2004)

American Artist

Born in Lexington, North Carolina, Harvey grew up during the Depression and was drawn to old photographs that later inspired his most recognized works. After studying at Ringling Art School, he worked in New York at the renowned House of Heyduryk, connecting with artists and intellectuals who had fled Europe during WWII.

His career spanned New York, Taos, and San Francisco, where he exhibited at Gump’s and the Charles Campbell Gallery. His acclaimed Family Album series earned the Ford Foundation Purchase Award and recognition at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C.
